Our advisers can help you to work out how much money you owe and which debts you should pay back first. 

We can also help you challenge liability for a debt if you don’t agree that you owe any money.

Help to Claim Universal Credit Advice

Our advisers can support you in the early stages of your Universal Credit claim, from the application, through to your first full payment.

Universal Credit is a benefit that can help with your everyday living costs. You might be able to get it if you’re not working or you’re on a low income.

Drop-in and speak to an adviser at Scunthorpe Central on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 9:30 am and 12:00 pm.

Energy Advice

Our advisers can help you if you are struggling to pay your energy bills or you just want better deals on energy.

We can also give you advice on the most appropriate payment methods and information on how to access help from energy suppliers and the Government.

Employment 

Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS) provides confidential, independent and impartial advice to both employers and employees who are involved in an employment dispute or are seeking information on employment rights and rules.

Consumer

The Citizens Advice consumer helpline provides practical and impartial advice on how to resolve consumer problems. Advisers can tell you the law that applies to your situation and pass information about complaints on to Trading Standards. 

The helpline number is 03454 04 05 06. It is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Family

Local solicitors Sills and Betteridge provides family advice and offer a free half hour for new clients to assess individual circumstances. One off/ preliminary advice is charged at a rate of £125 plus VAT.

The Shelter helpline provides free and independent advice for people experiencing urgent housing issues and for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
