Job title: Energy Adviser
Salary: £24,657 pro rata (Actual £9960 pa)
Term: Fixed term to 31 March 2019, extension subject to funding.
Hours: 15 hours per week
Holidays: 25 days plus Bank Holidays pro rata
Location: Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire
You will assist people to tackle fuel poverty by providing a service specifically targeted at the most vulnerable and financially excluded people in the North Lincolnshire area. In addition, you will carry out consumer education to empower consumers to make informed choices about the services and products they purchase.
Your role will be to identify the clients’ need for energy advice following their seeking advice on other issues, for example on debt, health problems, financial capability, housing matters.
The advice you provide should include, but is not restricted to:
- Reducing energy costs
- Reducing energy demand & improving effectiveness of energy used
- Increasing the client income by claiming fuel-related benefits: Cold Weather Payments, Winter Fuel Payments, general benefit checks and reducing debt repayment levels by negotiating manageable debt solutions
- Empowering consumers to be aware of their rights: gas, electricity, off-gas fuels, energy efficiency and microgeneration
- Dealing with consumer complaints and resolving problems, e.g. debt, disconnection, back-billing and helping consumers secure redress from energy, energy efficiency and micro-generation companies when things go wrong
Your base will be our main office located at Scunthorpe Central, North Lincolnshire. The work will be wide ranging and varied, you will need to be good at supporting clients, confident and outgoing.
