Benefits of volunteering

Volunteering with us is a two way street. You can also benefit and develop by sharing your time with us.

The benefits of volunteering

  • Making a difference: We have two volunteers to every staff member here at Citizens Advice North Lincolnshire. Their hard work and commitment goes a long way to helping 4,000 people and solving 15,000 problems a year.
  • Training and support: All advisers receive comprehensive free training, which is recognised and respected throughout the country. The training programme consists of observation, working through self-study packs, and a three day course run by Citizens Advice. Furthermore, all volunteers are fully supported and supervised throughout their involvement with Citizens Advice. There will be a paid member of staff that you can turn to for extra support if you feel you need it.
  • Employment opportunities: Nearly one third of volunteers who leave our nationwide network go on to paid employment. Local Citizens Advice volunteering provides skills and experience that is valued by many employers. A lot of paid local Citizens Advice staff, for example managers, case workers and administrators, started out as volunteers.
  • Paid expenses: We will reimburse travel and other out-of-pocket expenses. There are often opportunities to attend shows, conferences, forums and events.
